Elles vous plairont \u00e0 coup s\u00fbr! Nous avons choisi, avec difficult\u00e9 soit dit en passant, nos cinq pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9es, et nous pensons que vous les aimerez tout autant. Nous vous pr\u00e9sentons chacune sous trois angles\u00a0: en quoi elle consiste, pourquoi s\u2019y int\u00e9resser et comment l\u2019utiliser. Sans plus attendre, les voici!<\/p>\n

1. Prise en charge des attributs possibles dans les bo\u00eetes de dialogue de Transformers<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Quoi?<\/strong>
La nouvelle fonctionnalit\u00e9 de lecture des valeurs des attributs (Data-Aware transformer dialogues<\/em>) signifie que pendant que vous d\u00e9veloppez vos Workspaces<\/em>, certains Transformers<\/em> cl\u00e9s indiquent maintenant tous les attributs possibles pour un param\u00e8tre en particulier. Une liste d\u00e9roulante vous permet de les filtrer et de les s\u00e9lectionner au lieu de les taper.<\/p>\n

Pourquoi?<\/strong>
Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une fonctionnalit\u00e9 de FME Desktop que les utilisateurs demandent depuis longtemps. Celle-ci facilitera grandement la cr\u00e9ation de processus sans erreur. Auparavant, vous deviez soit m\u00e9moriser vos attributs sensibles \u00e0 la casse, soit les copier-coller depuis la source. Dans la version\u00a02021.0, vous n\u2019avez plus \u00e0 vous inqui\u00e9ter\u00a0: vous pouvez tout simplement choisir la valeur souhait\u00e9e dans la liste.<\/p>\n

Comment?<\/strong>
Lorsque vous cr\u00e9ez vos Workspaces<\/em> FME, assurez-vous que la fonction Feature Caching<\/em> est activ\u00e9e. En effet, lorsque vous lancez le Workspace<\/em>, il stocke les valeurs en m\u00e9moire afin qu\u2019elles soient disponibles dans les Transformers<\/em>. Pour l\u2019instant, cette fonctionnalit\u00e9 n\u2019est disponible que dans AttributeManager<\/em>, Tester<\/em> et TestFilter<\/em>, mais elle sera \u00e9tendue \u00e0 tous les Transformers<\/em> plus tard.<\/p>\n

2. G\u00e9n\u00e9rateur de bo\u00eetes de dialogue de param\u00e8tres<\/strong><\/p>\n

Quoi?<\/strong>
Le g\u00e9n\u00e9rateur de bo\u00eetes de dialogue de param\u00e8tres (Parameter Dialog Builder<\/em>) est un outil de type \u00ab\u00a0glisser-d\u00e9poser\u00a0\u00bb simple et facile \u00e0 utiliser qui vous permet de cr\u00e9er des bo\u00eetes de dialogue personnalis\u00e9es pour les Workspaces<\/em> FME.<\/p>\n

Pourquoi?<\/strong>
Dans FME\u00a02020, Safe Software a lanc\u00e9 les FME Server Apps, un moyen rapide et facile, sans programmation, de mettre en place des applications Web qui peuvent ex\u00e9cuter des Workspaces<\/em> et des Automations<\/em> sur FME Server. Le gestionnaire de param\u00e8tres permet de cr\u00e9er facilement une exp\u00e9rience encore plus simple et intuitive pour les utilisateurs de FME Server Apps ou de FME Data Express. Il \u00e9largit \u00e9galement les possibilit\u00e9s de cr\u00e9ation de Transformers<\/em> personnalis\u00e9s que l\u2019on peut trouver sur FME Hub, par exemple.<\/p>\n

Comment?<\/strong>
Dans la fen\u00eatre de modification des param\u00e8tres publi\u00e9s, vous pouvez ajouter des bo\u00eetes de param\u00e8tres, choisir le type et configurer les d\u00e9tails facilement par une interface glisser-d\u00e9poser. La configuration que vous avez \u00e9tablie dans votre Workspace<\/em> FME Desktop sera report\u00e9e dans FME Server et FME Server Apps pour une exp\u00e9rience utilisateur fluide.<\/p>\n

3. Am\u00e9lioration de la performance<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Quoi?<\/strong>
Le code sous-jacent de FME a fait l\u2019objet de quelques mises \u00e0 jour importantes, et nous constatons maintenant une augmentation consid\u00e9rable de la vitesse de traitement de certains Transformers<\/em> populaires, notamment FeatureMerger<\/em>, SpatialFilter<\/em> et SpatialRelator<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Pourquoi?<\/strong>
Ces Transformers<\/em> servent couramment; ils s\u2019appliquent \u00e0 de nombreux sc\u00e9narios de transformation de donn\u00e9es et sont souvent responsables des longs d\u00e9lais de traitement des Workspaces<\/em>. L\u2019am\u00e9lioration de la vitesse de traitement de ces Transformers<\/em> aura probablement un effet positif sur la vitesse des Workspaces<\/em> pour la plupart des utilisateurs de FME.<\/p>\n

Comment?<\/strong>
Assurez-vous d\u2019ajouter un nouveau Transformer<\/em> ou de mettre \u00e0 niveau vos Transformers<\/em> existants dans FME Desktop\u00a02021. Lorsque vous ouvrez un ancien Workspace<\/em> dans FME\u00a02021, vous pouvez mettre \u00e0 niveau vos Transformers<\/em> dans la section Upgradeable Transformers<\/em> du navigateur, \u00e0 gauche du canevas du Workspace<\/em>. Si vous ne le faites pas, vous ne constaterez pas d\u2019am\u00e9lioration de la vitesse de traitement! 4. Renseignements sur les t\u00e2ches (Job Information<\/em>)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

La nouvelle fonction de renseignements sur les t\u00e2ches (Job Information<\/em>) de FME Server permet d\u2019acc\u00e9der \u00e0 des statistiques importantes sur l\u2019utilisation des ressources de FME Server. Vous pouvez facilement obtenir des statistiques qui vous indiquent le temps que prennent vos Workspaces<\/em>, leur pourcentage d\u2019utilisation du processeur et la quantit\u00e9 de m\u00e9moire qu\u2019ils occupent.<\/p>\n

Pourquoi?<\/strong>
Les utilisateurs de FME se servent de plus en plus de FME Server pour l\u2019automatisation de t\u00e2ches et les d\u00e9ploiements deviennent de plus en plus importants et complexes. Pour relever les d\u00e9fis qui en d\u00e9coulent et maximiser l\u2019utilisation des engines<\/em> et des ressources sur FME Server, il est crucial de disposer de ces renseignements.\u00a0 On peut alors g\u00e9rer efficacement l\u2019utilisation des engines<\/em> (quelles t\u00e2ches envoyer, o\u00f9 et quand), savoir s\u2019il faut utiliser des engines<\/em> dynamiques et d\u00e9finir la planification des ressources \u00e0 effectuer. L\u2019acc\u00e8s aux renseignements sur les t\u00e2ches est essentiel pour \u00e9laborer une strat\u00e9gie compl\u00e8te de gouvernance de FME.<\/p>\n

Comment?<\/strong>
Dans la section Completed Jobs<\/em>, vous pouvez voir les statistiques des t\u00e2ches par ex\u00e9cution, comme le pourcentage d\u2019utilisation du processeur, l\u2019utilisation maximale de la m\u00e9moire, la dur\u00e9e de traitement et le temps de processeur. Dans la section Workspace<\/em> de FME Server, vous pouvez voir les moyennes par Workspace\u00a0<\/em>: dur\u00e9e de traitement moyenne, pourcentage d\u2019utilisation du processeur moyen, temps de processeur moyen et utilisation maximale moyenne de la m\u00e9moire. Vous obtenez \u00e9galement les m\u00eames renseignements dans la page Schedules<\/em>, mais uniquement pour les t\u00e2ches planifi\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

5. Garantie de livraison<\/b><\/h2>\n

Quoi?<\/strong>
La garantie de livraison est une fonction dans Automations<\/em> qui garantit que les Workspaces<\/em> peuvent \u00eatre r\u00e9ex\u00e9cut\u00e9s en cas de probl\u00e8mes de r\u00e9seau ou de connexion \u00e0 des syst\u00e8mes externes.<\/p>\n

Pourquoi?<\/strong>
Nous adorons cette fonctionnalit\u00e9, car les pannes de r\u00e9seau ou la temporisation qui surviennent parfois peuvent causer des probl\u00e8mes et interrompre le traitement des processus, surtout avec le nombre croissant de Workspaces<\/em> se connectant \u00e0 des syst\u00e8mes externes infonuagiques ou autres. Dans le pass\u00e9, nous avons us\u00e9 de cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 pour concevoir des processus qui se relancent au besoin, mais ce n\u2019est d\u00e9sormais plus n\u00e9cessaire\u00a0: cette fonction est int\u00e9gr\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019interface!<\/p>\n

Comment?<\/strong>
Lorsque vous utilisez la fonction Automations<\/em> (p.\u00a0ex. pour l\u2019ex\u00e9cution d\u2019un Workspace<\/em> ou l\u2019envoi d\u2019un courriel), il existe un nouvel onglet Retry<\/em> qui vous permet de configurer facilement si vous souhaitez retenter l\u2019ex\u00e9cution, combien de fois et \u00e0 quel intervalle.<\/p>\n

FME 2021.0 has now been released and with it comes some excellent new features!\u00a0 We are sure that you will see the value in these new features that improve the usability and efficiency of working with FME and FME Server.\u00a0 While it was difficult to choose, we have identified our top 5, and we think you will love them too.\u00a0 We explore each new feature from 3 angles:\u00a0 What is the new feature, why should you care, and how can we use it?\u00a0 So, without further ado, here they are\u2026<\/p>\r\n

1. Data-aware Transformer Dialogues<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

What?<\/strong>
The new feature \u201cData-Aware\u201d transformer dialogues means that while you are developing your workspaces, some key transformers are now aware of all possible attributes that are available for a specific parameter. There is a drop-down list so that you can filter and select instead of typing them out.<\/p>\r\n

Why?<\/strong>
This is a long wished-for feature of FME Desktop that will make it a lot easier to make error-free workflows.\u00a0 In the past, you would have to either memorize your case-sensitive attributes or copy and paste them from the source.\u00a0 In 2021.0, you don\u2019t have to worry anymore, you can choose from an accurate list of real attribute values.<\/p>\r\n

How?<\/strong>
When authoring your FME workspaces, make sure you have \u201cFeature Caching\u201d turned on to activate this feature.\u00a0 That is because when you run the workspace, it stores the values in memory so that they are available in the Transformers.\u00a0 For now, this feature is only available in the AttributeManager, the Tester and the TestFilter \u2013 but it will eventually get rolled out to all transformers.<\/p>\r\n

2. Parameter Dialog Builder<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

What?<\/strong>
The Parameter Dialog Builder is a neat, easy to use drag-and-drop tool that allows you to create customized and robust dialog boxes for FME workspaces.<\/p>\r\n

Why?<\/strong>
In FME 2020, Safe Software debuted FME Server Apps: a quick and easy no-code way to set up web applications that can run workspaces and Automations on FME Server.\u00a0 The parameter dialog builder allows users to easily create an even more simple and intuitive experience for users of FME Server Apps or FME Data Express.\u00a0 It also expands possibilities for the creation of Custom Transformers that you might find on FME Hub, for example!<\/p>\r\n

How?<\/strong>
In the Published Parameters editor, you can add parameter boxes, choose the type, and configure the details easily with a drag-and-drop interface.\u00a0 The configuration you set up in your FME Desktop workspace will carry over to FME Server and FME Server Apps for a seamless user experience.<\/p>\r\n

3. Improved Engine Speed<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

What?<\/strong>
The underlying code of FME has gotten some major upgrades and now we see significantly increased processing speeds for some popular transformers, including the FeatureMerger, the SpatialFilter and the SpatialRelator.<\/p>\r\n

Why?<\/strong>
These transformers are commonly used; they apply to many common data transformation scenarios and they are often culprits in terms of long processing time for workspaces.\u00a0 Improving the processing speed of these transformers will likely have a positive impact on workspace speed for most FME users.<\/p>\r\n

How?<\/strong>
Make sure to either add a new transformer or upgrade your existing transformers in FME Desktop 2021.\u00a0 Once you open an old workspace in FME 2021, this can be done by looking in the \u201cUpgradeable Transformers\u201d section in the Navigator to the left of the workspace canvas.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t do this, you won\u2019t see increased processing speed!\u00a0 If you are looking for a fun activity to do, run some tests to see the difference and let us know!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The new \u201cJob Information\u201d feature of FME Server allows us to access important statistics about how FME Server\u2019s resources are being used.\u00a0 You can easily get statistics that tell you how long your workspaces are taking, how much CPU processing they are using and how much memory they are taking up.<\/p>\r\n

Why?<\/strong>
FME customers are using FME Server for automating tasks more and more, and deployments are getting larger and more complex.\u00a0 To wrangle the challenges that come with this and to maximise the use of your engines and resources on FME Server, it is crucial to have this information.\u00a0 With Job Information, we can efficiently manage how engines are being used (which jobs to send where and when), whether we should use Dynamic Engines and what kind of resource planning we need to do. \u00a0Access to Job Information is key for developing a comprehensive FME Governance strategy.<\/p>\r\n

How?<\/strong>
In the Completed Jobs section, you can see job metrics per run such as % CPU usage, Peak Memory Usage, Elapsed Time, and CPU time.\u00a0 If you navigate to the Workspace section of FME Server, you can see averages by workspace: Average Elapsed Time, Average CPU %, Average CPU Time and Average Peak Memory Usage.\u00a0 You also get the same information in the Schedules Page \u2013 but this is only for Scheduled jobs.<\/p>\r\n

5. Guaranteed Delivery<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

What?<\/strong>
Guaranteed Delivery is a function in Automations that ensures that workspaces can be re-run in case of problems such as common network or connection issues to external systems.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Why?<\/strong>
We love this functionality because with more and more workspaces connecting to external systems, cloud or otherwise, there is the occasional network drop or timeout that can cause problems and halt the processing of our workflows.\u00a0 In the past, we have built workarounds for this \u2013 using creative FME development to design workflows that re-try themselves if necessary.\u00a0 Now, no need - it is built right into the interface!<\/p>\r\n

How?<\/strong>
For your Automations Actions (such as running a workspace or sending an e-mail), there is a new \u201cRetry\u201d tab that allows you to easily configure if you want it to retry, how many times and with how much time in between you would like your Automation to re-try the action.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
