CAD-to-GIS:
Integrating CAD data into your GIS

TRAINING DESCRIPTION

AutoCAD drawings are ubiquitous in many organizations. They generally contain plans for infrastructure and buildings, and may also act as a basic cartographic tool, independent from a geomatics system. The relationship between CAD plans and geomatics data is often a very close one, and so it is definitely advantageous to be able to automatically transfer information from one system to another.

This course will teach you techniques to improve your processes for integrating CAD data into a geographic information system (GIS) and the other way around. Learn more about CAD data and how to extract the most information from it, so you can take your workflows to the next level.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Dissect a CAD plan to be used in FME
  • Cut down on manual steps to integrate CAD plans into a GIS format
  • Export GIS data to a stylized CAD plan
