Extraction, Transformation and Loading of Spatial Data (Spatial ETL)
Safe Software

The geomatics industry is composed of numerous software suppliers who provide an impressive number of data formats. Geomatics personnel therefore spend a lot of time converting data from one format to another, often for the purposes of integrating such data into their existing system or to share them with other partners. Numerous organizations also have to constantly structure their data based on their model or to ensure data quality control.

Consortech has mastered the art of resolving all kinds of problems relating to geospatial data, thanks to FME from Safe Software and to its team’s unsurpassed expertise in using this tool.

Unique FME Expertise

Our highly specialized services include:

  • Workbench development
  • Proof of concept
  • Personalized fundamental and advanced FME training
  • FME configuration and customization
  • FME Server implementation

Through the years, Consortech has become one of the world’s principal partners of Safe Software and is now its exclusive partner in Quebec. Because of our recognized expertise, our specialists obtained the first FME Professional and FME Trainer certifications in North America. The scale and scope of FME projects that Consortech has achieved has necessitated the training of a team of seven application specialists and developers on this software.

FME Desktop: A Recognized and Powerful ETL Software

FME

The FME Desktop is the “toolbox” that practically addresses any geospatial situation. FME extracts raster or vector data from almost any kind of format, transforms and then structures them based on the agreed data model, and then loads or integrates them into the desired application format.

FME WorkbenchFME Desktop Interface

Without any programming knowledge required and with an intuitive interface, the Workbench component in FME allows users to quickly create graphic dataflow leading to the conversion, transformation and integration of the data.

FME supports more than 220 formats types: CAD, vector, raster, database, BIM, 3D and WEB. Furthermore, its collection of more than 300 transformers enables users to fulfill multiple data manipulation needs.

FME is a unique application enabling users to:

  • Ensure the conformity of data sources (internal or external) with the standards of each organization;
  • Accelerate the handling of spatial data coming from multiple sources or in different formats;
  • Reduce development costs related to spatial and topological validations.

FME Server: Sharing Spatial Data...

FME Server

When it’s time to distribute spatial data, transform huge volumes of data or assign different ETL tasks within an organization, one solution is all you need: FME Server.

Equipped with an extensible service-oriented architecture, FME Server significantly facilitates the sharing of spatial data on the Web. This way, a user will not need an FME license to access a WEB data transformation and conversion service and to download this data in the projection of his choice. The data transformation parameters are pre-established in the Workbench available in FME Desktop. The resulting workspace is therefore published in the FME Server making ETL capabilities accessible to everyone. FME Server is also the recommended solution for heavy conversion and transformation of data, allowing the simultaneous execution of different tasks.

in brief, FME Server is an efficient solution that:

  • Diminishes by 40%-50% the time allotted to support repetitive requests;
  • Promotes the independence of the end user by reducing his dependence on the producer of data or on the person in charge of the data;
  • Diminishes the number of errors and controls the quality at the source during data sharing;
  • Reduces the number of delays and costs related to data access;
  • Makes available the data at the desired time and place in the data format structure desired by the end user.

FME User Group

FME User Group

Firmly committed to ensuring a dynamic interaction between FME community users, Consortech holds meetings for FME user groups twice a year in addition to launching seminars where new software functionalities are introduced.
