In all activities, Consortech is primarily concerned with meeting client needs through implementation of geo-technological solutions or through customized services that ensure the autonomy of resources. Check often; important projects accomplished for various clients will be regularly described in this section. These achievements will often be accompanied by client testimonials highlighting our capacity to meet their objectives at the lowest cost and on schedule.
Design an 85 km stretch of a two lane gravel road cutting through forest
Duration of planning and estimates – 5 months
First road design project of this magnitude in Quebec accomplished with Civil 3D
Client Objectives:
Reduce cost of buying and integrating civil design software
Respect tight deadlines through fast and efficient training and technical support
Facilitate user adaptability through integration of software with current Autodesk tools (AutoCAD)
Consortech’s role:
Sell software
Train users within short time
Setup and technical support
Collaborate with Autodesk in effort to enhance product performance
Benefits of solution:
Reduce planning time through easy regeneration of elevations, profiles and other components of road design
Spot and eliminate sources of mistake in change management by producing automatic generations of the impact
Generate quantity, setup and elevation lists with precision and ease
Capacity to process and generate in minutes profiles with thousands of reference points
Increase client service through software’s enormous flexibility in producing models
Project manager’s testimonial:
"The wonder of this software lies in its ability to rapidly simulate a client’s every “What if”, which is extremely helpful in shaping initial design. Civil 3D is head to head with the most advanced road design software".
André Lévesque Eng. Project Manager and Associate, Municipal, Transport and Environment, Groupe Stavibel Inc.
Development of new subassemblies in Civil 3D 2008 to meet the needs of Consortech clients
Project duration: 9 months
Client Objectives:
Reduce required assembly manipulations in situations involving rock excavation
Create excavation levels in rock at a set elevation as opposed to other subassemblies already available in Civil 3D, as required by MTQ (ministry of transport) standards
Simplify the calculation of cut material in rock excavation conditions
Permit calculation of materials required for the construction of a dam using a complex multimaterial type cross section
Consortech’s role:
Collection of client requests throughout multiple training sessions, user groups and meetings orchestrated by Consortech
Development of the technical specifications of the two subassemblies required
Presentation of client requests to Autodesk via an internet meeting organized in December 2006, along with an outline of the proposed solutions
Meeting of Autodesk developers in February 2007 at their offices in Manchester, New Hampshire to clarify these needs
Meeting in Orlando in April 2007 of the managers of Autodesk application specialists to boost support for Consortech’s clients needs
Support of developers while project is carried out
Benefits of solution:
Permits searches of various surfaces (rock and natural terrain) using a single subassembly
Facilitates the creation of excavation levels in rock in compliance with the MTQ (ministry of transport) standards
Accelerate the modelling of the 3D model, thus permitting more efficient calculation of cut-and-fill material in rock conditions
Permits creation of complex type cross sections for multi-zone dams, while allowing generation of a separate volumes report for each of the zones
